AOTS™ Aero Optics Test Simulator
Features

The MetroLaser Aero Optical Test Simulator (AOTS) allows you to propagate an optical wavefront through many different types of simulated aerodynamic and atmospheric layers and to assess the aero optical effects on the wavefront. AOTS

Such effects include distortion of the wavefront, aberrated imaging, reduction in energy transfer, bore sight or aiming errors, deteriorated point spread functions and reduced Strehl ratio.  All of these are affected by the optical wavelength, aperture diameter, turbulent layer properties, and also by the steady state flow field.  The more you know about a particular flow field, the better AOTS can make an assessment of aero-optic effects. AOTS provides a wide range of optional outputs to choose from  to meet specific interests.

For a limited period of time MetroLaser will provide here, free for downloading, a Beta copy of AOTS, including instruction manuals. The manual will give you a working knowledge of AOTS as quickly as possible so that you will be able to conduct useful propagation experiments. The software is still under refinement and probably contains bugs and functions that do not always work as well as they will in the final version.  We hope that you will make good use of this advanced copy of AOTS and at the same time report any bugs, inconveniences, and questions that you encounter in its use and make suggestions that we may use to improve it.

AOTS is designed to work with CFD when CFD is available, and to work independent of CFD when it is either not available, inapplicable, or otherwise impractical to use.

Two versions are available, Version Z, which accesses the power of the ray tracing program ZemaxTM. If you have a ZemaxTM key that has been updated after December, 2004, you can use this version to take advantage of ZemaxTM features. If you do not have Zemax TM ,then Version ML is can be downloaded and used with Microsoft Windows XP.
